How a story reaches this page

  1. 1

    Share a Need

A person or authorised representative submits a request describing the need, the intended use of funds and the support required.

  2. 2

    Understand the Request

Two independent local partners check the request, and a Meridian Aid staff member reviews their findings before it is approved or published.

  3. 3

    Connect with Supporters

Published stories can be discovered by people who want to contribute towards genuine needs.

  4. 4

    Track Progress

Supporters can follow each story’s progress, and see what the money pays for and who receives it.

The full process, step by step

Giving with confidence

Trust matters when someone shares a personal need and when someone chooses to help. These are the rules every story follows.

Respect for Every Person
Applicants choose how they appear: a first name or a different name, with or without a photo. Full names, phone numbers, addresses and documents are never published.
Clear Fundraising Goals
Every story shows its purpose, each cost in its budget, the target in the local currency and the amount actually raised.
Responsible Giving
Funds are paid to the school, hospital or supplier named in the budget, not to individuals. Fees are shown before anyone pays.
Updates and Accountability
Every staff decision on a story is recorded with who made it and when. Anyone can report a concern about a story.

Do you or someone you know need help?

Share the need, and two local partners will check it before supporters can see it.
